Writing is an act of discovery that invites a conversation with your own heart. It helps metabolize grief, clarifies purpose, and creates camaraderie & community. It is the opposite of FOMO, the antithesis of scrolling. It is the alive, red-hot holy core of being itself, finding its way to the surface through words.
Writing circles are for everyone--if you have a pen, you can write. They are for people of all stripes/gender/identity/age, for those who identify as writers and for those who vehemently do not. The set-up is simple: We will read a poem, then choose a prompt as a jumping of point. We'll write for ten minutes, keeping our hands moving to outrun the harsh editor who loves to keep us all tongue-tied. Then we share (you can always pass), with an appreciative lens of what has poured through us. We might comment by echoing the lines or words that had the most resonance, but we are not trying to edit, improve, or workshop.
Let’s call it the art of hearing others deeply and being deeply heard. Out of that, surprise and serendipity and solace follow, inevitably. Join us for this nurturing, soulful evening of creative expression. All are welcome! To write is to dare greatly and to listen is an act of love.
