Escape the afternoon summer heat and slay your 2024 reading goals at the Lyons Community Library Silent Book Club!

What is Silent Book Club?

At Silent Book Club, there's no assigned reading. All readers are welcome—ebooks, audiobooks, textbooks, comic books. It's BYOBook... or, grab a book from the library shelf! Readers of any genre spend time together reading in companionable silence. In our busy lives, it can be a challenge to carve out time to read. Silent Book Club creates that opportunity by providing accountability and companionship for those who want to spend a bit more time reading. Learn more about Silent Book Club at the official website.

How does it work?

  • 3:30-3:45 - Arrive, help yourself to some light refreshements (provided by the library in the community room), chat with others/share what you're reading
  • 3:45-4:45 - Quiet reading hour - grab a seat at a table in the community room, find a comfy chair in the quiet reading room, or head out to the shaded patio and settle in for an hour of quiet reading!
  • 4:45-5:00 - Optional socializing, or just keep reading!

Bring a friend (or two!) and join us for a relaxing summer afternoon of reading!
