Join us for the 4th Annual Lights Out Lyons, a community gathering to encourage residents and businesses to go low lights or no lights on Saturday, Aug 24th and explore the planets, stars, and more with telescopes, local scientists and the community.

The evening starts at the Lyons Regional Library at 5:30 with a Mini planetarium experience brought to us by the Fiske Planetarium. Fiske is one of the largest planetariums in the United States, educating the public on astronomy and astrophysics since 1975. This is a mini dome show at the Lyons Library to learn more about astronomical events.

Then head over to Bohn Park at 7:30 to Explore Bohn Park in the Dark! Residents are encouraged to bring telescopes to Bohn Park, take a walking tour to discover the starry night, or join the fun and look through other telescopes brought by local star and planet and dark sky enthusiasts!

For those that are interested in camping at Bohn Park, set up will begin at 5:00 pm on Saturday, Aug 24 on the soccer fields.  Bring a tent or sleep out in the open for an up close look at the skies.
