Program Description

Event Details

The Indian Peaks Wilderness Area is just up Highway 7 from Lyons, with a left turn on Highway 72.

The USDA Forest Service has been particularly concerned about wear and tear on Indian Peaks trails. Our guest, Indian Peaks guidebook author, Kent Dannen, has helped the Forest Service convey proper trail use and care to the public, and was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for outstanding volunteer service in developing educational materials which help to manage and protect the Indian Peaks Wilderness.

Join Kent to learn more about the landscape you love, emphasizing stewardship of this protected area and highlighting its amazing scenery and fascinating natural history.

Kent Dannen has written the Falcon trail guide to Indian Peaks Wilderness as well as four other guides to Rocky Mountain National Park. He has also written Search and Rescue Rocky Mountains for Lyons Press. For the National Wildlife Federation, He has lectured on bird identification, the economic history of wildlife in America, and various other natural history topics from the Pribilof Islands in Alaska to the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina and many place between, including (of course) Colorado.

Explore the possibilities.
